Youth Services is the name of Rotary’s youth-oriented programs. The Penfield Rotary Club recognizes the importance of providing educational, leadership and volunteer opportunities to the youth of our community.

The Penfield High School’s Interact Club is a Rotary-sponsored service club for youth ages 12-18. Interact is formed from the words “international” and “action”. Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA)
The Rotary Youth Leadership Academy is a leadership opportunity for students completing their junior year. The RYLA program is held each year at the RIT campus in late June (June 28-July 2, 2015) and emphasizes leadership development, citizenship, and personal growth. The Penfield Rotary participates in a district-wide oratorical competition open to all high school juniors. Penfield Rotary Scholarship
The Penfield Rotary offers a $1000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who exhibits a high degree of public service. All seniors, whether public, private or home-schooled, are eligible for this scholarship. They must be a resident of the Penfield School District. Click here to print out the scholarship application, which must be submitted by April 22, 2016. The award is presented to the winner at a Club meeting in June. As part of the Penfield Rotary’s efforts to promote literacy, a dictionary is given to every third grader enrolled in both public and private schools located within the Penfield School District. Dictionaries are presented to schools during the fall, typically in November and December. The Penfield Rotary promotes international understanding and good will through many efforts, including the sponsorship of students for both long-term and short-term exchange programs. Long term exchanges last oneyear and involve attending a local high school. Short term exchange programs last one month and take place over the summer. The Penfield Rotary provides school supplies and reading items to students in need both in the Penfield schools and School #9 in Rochester. Penfield Rotary participates in a district-level Literacy Committee that organizes book collections, tutoring, and read aloud programs as part of its mission to promote literacy around the world. The Penfield Rotary sponsors one high school senior each year in the district-wide vocal competition. Winners of the District 7120 vocal competition receive prizes and the opportunity for a college scholarship.
