Penfield Rotary will hold its January Social at Joe Gatt's on Tuesday 1/17, starting at 5:30pm - 7:30(ish)pm. New prospective members and those who are interested in Penfield Rotary are invited. The Penfield Business Chamber has also been invites to joint us for our social. Appetizers will be provided by Penfield Rotary. Cash bar.

Pancake breakfast fundraiser for Cub Scout Pack 9.  Come on over to Applebees and have our cub scouts take your order and serve you a fantastic pancake breakfast. 

Tickets are $8 per person (scouts keep $5!)  Be sure to bring friends, family, and anyone that just enjoys a great pancake served by great kids!

A light dinner will be served. Cost will be $14. Includes Chicken, pasta, pasta sauce, salad, drink and dessert. If you plan to attend the assembly meeting, please let Ken know by Sunday 1/22. GRANT MANAGEMENT SEMINARS (GMS)

for Global & District Grants in the 2023-2024 Rotary Year

To participate in Rotary Foundation Programs including Global and District Grants during Rotary each year, a club is required to become certified/re-certified and accomplish the following four tasks:

1. Each club President-Elect and Foundation Chair, or their representatives, are required to complete a district-sponsored Grant Management Seminar (GMS) or the Rotary.Org Learning Center online course.
2. Club president and president-elect must sign a Memorandum of Understanding (Club MOU) per The Rotary Foundation
3. Club president and president-elect must sign the District 7120 Addendum to the Club MOU, which is available on District 7120 website.
4. Each club must adopt the document retention and financial management policies required by the MOU.
5. Additionally, clubs must have donated $35 average per capita in the 2021-2022 Rotary year in order to qualify for grants in 2023-2024.  

It's that time of year. Be ready to cheer on your favorite car! Penfield Rotarians have been asked to monitor the event and help where needed.

Our Club Service Project for February is preparing and serving dinner to veterans staying at NUCOR House. Look for details from Tara to sign up for a dish to pass.

About the Nucor House

Welcome to the Nucor House, a sober living facility operated as a part of Warrior Salute Veteran Services. The Nucor House, named after benefactor Nucor Steel, is fully furnished and includes all amenities for its residents. Food and transportation are also included, as well as case management services for veterans

Guest Speaker: Andy Urckfitz - Town of Penfield Recreation Director

A native of Penfield and current resident, Urckfitz has a multitude of parks and recreation experience. He began working at Penfield Rec in 2003 as a part-time camp counselor. Most recently, he served as acting Recreation Director. He also previously held the role of Assistant Recreation Director along with several years working for the Town of Pittsford Recreation Department.

As Recreation Director, he will oversee Penfield Rec operations including concerts, athletic field scheduling, and a wide variety of programs.

Other Agenda Items 

• In addition, Don Cicchino from Bloomfield Rotary will be present to advertise for the District Conference which will be held on May 6th at Veterans Park, 6910 New York 5&20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, USA. Don will show a short video.
• The district has asked each club to provide a raffle item for the district conference. The board discussed what to do and it was decided to have a basket with a BBQ theme. Please consider donating an item for the basket.  The basket needs to be completed by April 28th. I have put a spreadsheet out on the Google drive which will allow you to Identify what you would like to contribute (We want to make sure there are a variety of items) and allow you to know what has already been identified by others.

District Training Assembly is new and improved - it will be a Trade Show format. More to follow to explain what events and activites there are!

For the last three years, our District has participated in Rotary’s Great Lakes and park clean-up providing a substantial effort to improve the quality of our area watersheds. 

Join Penfield Rotarty in cleaning-up Channing Philbrick Park along Irondequoit Creek. Meet in the parking lot to pick up trash bags, be sure to wear your boots, it will be muddy!

It’s not too soon to be thinking about the Rotary District 7120 Conference to be held next year on Saturday, May 6th.  It is going to be unlike any conference you have ever (or never) attended.  District Governor Ralph Brandt’s sole focus on the Conference is “Come One, Come All!”. 

It is not 3 days of Rotary speeches in another state.  It is ONE DAY of FUN (think Carnival or Circus) and it’s practically in the center of District 7120 at Veteran’s Park right on Routes 5 & 20 in Bloomfield – less than a two-hour drive from anyplace in the District.

Ride the Rotary wagon in the Penfield Independence Parade. Bring your family to ride and candy to share with children (no throwing)!

7:30 AM Meet at Wickham Farms (CSA building) to ride the wagon to the Penfield High scholl for parade line up. OR

8:45-9:00 AM Meet at the high school, you will have to park at the recreation department and walk down to the high school parking lot. No one will be allowed to park at the high school, that will be reserved for parade floats and cars only. (You must previously regiseter with the town of Penfield to drive in the parade.)
